Pam Thomas,  President:  Pam, accompanied by her husband Bob and two dogs, Gizmo and Brandy, arrived in Belize in March of 2008.  She brought with her a wealth of knowledge from the Health Food industry, as well as a strong desire to make a difference.  From day one she expressed a desire to work with the Placencia Humane Society and became a participating member in April. Pam quickly showed her aptitude as the veterinary assistant and has held that position since her first clinic.  Pam was elected to the Board of Directors in October.

Although a "dog lover", Pam has readily found room in her heart for two new members to the family. Bert, a yellow crested Amazon parrot, came to her in May of this year when his owners were called back to the states.  In October Ernie the cat, a rescue from Seine Bight, also joined the fold.  Pam and her family are currently building their home in Maya Beach.

Shannon Romero: Secretary, joined the PHS board in July of 2009.  She has been a volunteer for many years and as a board member is focusing on an education program for the local children.  Besides working full time at the Southern Environmental Association (SEA) she also offers a pet boarding service for owners that travel.
Shannon shares her home with many dogs and cats.

Mary Ann Kaye, Membership Coordinator and  Clinic Product Sales Administrator:  Mary Ann came to the Peninsula in December 2005 having previously lived in Florida for 24 years.  She and her husband Keith arrived in their boat "Dog House" with their five dogs - -(Barney, Happy, Daisy, Millie, and Ralph, who are all rescue dogs they brought with them from Florida).

As Membership Coordinator Mary Ann sends out renewal reminders to all persons whose memberships are expiring: when a new or renewal membership comes in she prints and sends them a thank you letter along with a current membership card, sends thank you letters for large donations received, keeps a list of all current members and expired memberships; e-mails out clinic notices to all local members and

e-mails out the quarterly newsletter to all the current members.

Madalon Richardson, Logo Product Purchasing and Sales   Madalon & Doug started traveling to Belize from California in 1980 in their Land Rover- -living in their Rover under a palm tree on their property that Doug had purchased in early 1970.

The PHS Board wasn't completely aware of Madalon's devotion and skills when they asked her to take over product sales several years  ago,  She  keeps track of  T-shirts, Tank Tops and coffee mugs to be sold to bring in funds for PHS.  (You can buy PHS T-shirts and Tank Tops from our Products Page.)  Lulu and Lucky are Madalon's loyal canine companions

Cat HarshbargerCat and husband Dale moved to Belize in June of 2005. They flew here straight from the Bahamas with their dog (Carlos) and 5 cats (Amber, Annie, Henrietta, Beep, and Gypsy). After the sudden loss of their beloved dog they were quickly adopted by two stray local dogs, Corky and CoCo-nut. Cat immediately became involved in PHS working with the medical team assisting the vets at the monthly clinics

Mary Smith:  Mary has again become a member of the Board after a several year absence; she will be in charge of coordinating Special Clinics. Mary with just a few of her rescue dogs (Max, Jerry, Lucy and Sheba). Her goal is to find every stray a good home.
