Veterinarians who currently provide monthly veterinary services for the Placencia community are:

Dr. Michael DeShield

Dr. Michael DeShield helped form PHS and in PHS' early days, provided veterinary services at many, many clinics in whatever space could be found (including under people's homes).  Dr. Mike, as he is affectionately known by everyone in Placencia, holds a special place in the hearts of all of us in the Placencia community.  (And a special thanks to Miriam DeShield, whose sense of humor and help in whatever way is needed has kept PHS going.)

Dr. Floyd Bennett at Placencia Humane Society Vet Clinic

Dr.Floyd Bennett, the current President of the Belize City Humane Society and Animal Shelter, has taken Placencia and its pets into his very big heart, and provides many voluntary vet services, including the most recent feral cat clinic to to spay and neuter feral cats in Placencia Village.

Dr. Miguel Figueroa

Dr. Miguel Figueroa, or "Figgy" to PHS clinic volunteers, is PHS's third rotating veterinarian.  Dr. Figueroa is always ready to help a distressed pet, or to pack up his car for a visit to local residents who don't live in Placencia Village and have no transportation to bring their pets to the monthly clinics.

Dr. Eduardo Tesecum is PHS' newest visiting vet.  Dr. Tesecum operates his own veterinary clinic in San Ignacio, and also provides veterinary services to the Belize Zoo.

Welcome Dr. Tesecum!
